What does a fishing day look like?

According to the lodge, guests typically arrive between 10 and 11 a.m. and fish the first day until 6 p.m., then 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each full day and a few hours on the morning of departure. Boats carry a maximum of three anglers per super-panga with a local captain.

Gear

Do I need to bring my own rods?

No. The lodge says guests may bring reels only and borrow lodge rods at no charge, and that some reels are available to rent. It also lists an on-site tackle shop carrying irons, Rapalas, weights, hooks and fluorocarbon leader.

What tackle does the lodge recommend?

Its basic list is one 40 lb setup for jig fishing, one 40–50 lb setup for yo-yo or bait fishing and one heavy bass setup for calico bass (minimum 40 lb leader), plus surface and yo-yo jigs, swimbaits with 1–2 oz leadheads, hardbaits and 5/0 hooks.

Is there a baggage limit?

Yes. Because of the plane’s cargo capacity, the lodge says guests are limited to about 70 pounds of gear and fish on the return flight, so packing light leaves more room for fish.
