Before the 9 p.m. deadline: This is a final-fishing-day update, not confirmed final results. The organizer’s schedule lists weigh-station hours of 2–9 p.m. and permits boats inside the harbor entrance by 9 p.m. to weigh. This report was reviewed at 6:55 p.m. Mazatlán time, before that cutoff; weigh-ins and committee review may change the standings and awards.
CABO SAN LUCAS — New marlin and tuna leaders emerged on the third and final fishing day of the 2026 Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore, bringing a late change to the standings after a morning that began with precautions for small vessels.
CatchStat’s closing-day board lists Tiki Perro Pescador first in the tournament’s billfish category with a 350-pound blue marlin. CatchStat names Jim Sorg for the entry, while the weigh-in board in Arturo Chacón’s photograph names JR Russell; the angler credit remains unresolved. Loose Crew follows with Edgar Gomez Ojeda’s 347-pound blue marlin, while Team Trixie’s 334-pound black marlin, caught by Carlos Davis on Day 2, sits third.
The tuna standings also changed. Caliente, with angler Mac Owens, now leads the base-entry heaviest-tuna category with a 259-pound yellowfin. North Star Pro’s Daniel Miranda is second at 251 pounds, ahead of the 225-pound yellowfin caught by David Carson aboard Strictly Business II 2026 on the second day.
CatchStat continues to label team payouts unofficial and directs readers to the tournament committee for official standings. The figures below reflect the board at the time of checking and may change.
A cautious reopening before the final day
According to reporting by Arturo Chacón, the captain of the port closed the port to small vessels on Thursday night, October 15, because of safety concerns. At 6:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, the captain allowed them to depart under precautions.
Chacón reported that storms made conditions rough for small boats during the day, but that all participants finished the tournament safely.
The port and weather account comes from Chacón’s reporting, not CatchStat. No written port bulletin or independent incident report was available to independently verify that account.
Two blue marlin move ahead of the Day 2 leader
Trixie entered the last day with its 334-pound black marlin leading the billfish board. By Friday evening, two blue marlin had moved ahead of it.
CatchStat’s individual team log records Loose Crew’s 347-pound blue marlin on October 16, followed by Tiki Perro Pescador’s 350-pound blue marlin that afternoon. The three-pound difference separates the top two entries in the overall billfish standings.
| Listed position | Team | Angler | Species | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tiki Perro Pescador | Jim Sorg (CatchStat); JR Russell on photo board — unresolved | Blue marlin | 350 lb |
| 2 | Loose Crew | Edgar Gomez Ojeda | Blue marlin | 347 lb |
| 3 | Trixie | Carlos Davis | Black marlin | 334 lb |
| 4 | Diggin Bills | Greg Harris | Blue marlin | 302 lb |
CatchStat displays the overall billfish category in points: 350, 347, 334 and 302 respectively. The corresponding fish weights are supported by its daily standings and team catch records, including the previously reported Day 2 weigh-ins.

The base billfish awards currently listed are $49,959 for Tiki Perro Pescador, $17,293.50 for Loose Crew and $9,607.50 for Trixie. These are category awards, not each team’s total earnings.
Caliente leads overall tuna; North Star Pro heads the daily jackpot
Caliente’s 259-pound yellowfin sits eight pounds above North Star Pro’s 251-pound fish in the overall tuna category. Both are ahead of the 225-pound Day 2 leader.
| Listed position | Team | Angler | Yellowfin weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Caliente | Mac Owens | 259 lb |
| 2 | North Star Pro | Daniel Miranda | 251 lb |
| 3 | Strictly Business II 2026 | David Carson | 225 lb |
| 4 | Team Guluarte Cabo Fleet | Eduardo Arípez Beltrán | 174.6 lb |
| 5 | Santana | Jesse Santana Jr. | 127.1 lb |
The overall tuna standings and optional daily jackpot are separate categories. CatchStat lists Caliente for the $25,620 base-entry heaviest-tuna award, while North Star Pro leads the Day 3 $1,000 daily tuna jackpot with its 251-pound yellowfin and a listed unofficial award of $40,800.
That distinction matters: the heaviest tuna on the overall board does not automatically win every optional jackpot.
Prime Time holds the dorado lead; TRUE GRIT tops the Day 3 release category
Prime Time’s 46.5-pound dorado, caught by Jeremy Chandler on Day 2, remains first in the base-entry heaviest-dorado standings. CatchStat lists its base award at $25,620 and its unofficial total team payout at $107,220.
In the Day 3 $2,000 daily release jackpot, TRUE GRIT leads the displayed standings with 350 points, followed by No Limits Fishing with 300 and Big OH with 175. CatchStat lists TRUE GRIT’s unofficial release award at $64,600.
Linda Gale is listed for the first two daily release awards, each $64,600, producing an unofficial team total of $129,200. Release points are scoring values, not a count of fish.
CatchStat records 89 catches on Day 3
The Day 3-only CatchStat page, captured at approximately 6:44 p.m. Mazatlán time on October 16, lists 89 catches across five species. A later retrieval did not return the full daily table, so this tally remains explicitly tied to that earlier snapshot:
| Species | Day 3 count |
|---|---|
| Black marlin | 1 |
| Blue marlin | 5 |
| Dorado / dolphin | 0 |
| Sailfish | 25 |
| Spearfish | 0 |
| Striped marlin | 43 |
| Yellowfin tuna | 15 |
| Total | 89 |
Across the three-day tournament, CatchStat’s overall board lists 276 catches: 116 striped marlin, 76 sailfish, 48 yellowfin tuna, 29 blue marlin, five black marlin and two dorado. It lists no spearfish.
Those are logged catches, not a list of qualifying weighed fish, and they do not establish that every billfish was released. These live records may be updated as entries are reconciled.
Trixie retains the largest listed unofficial payout
Although two fish moved ahead of Trixie in the overall billfish standings, the team still holds the largest named total on CatchStat’s unofficial payout table: $1,228,007.50.
The payout page lists substantial Day 2 awards for Trixie across several optional billfish jackpot categories. Overall fish position and total prize money therefore tell different stories.
| Team, as listed by CatchStat | Unofficial total payout |
|---|---|
| Trixie | $1,228,007.50 |
| Loose Crew | $183,893.50 |
| Tiki Perro Pescador | $131,559.00 |
| Linda Gale | $129,200.00 |
| Prime Time | $107,220.00 |
| TRUE GRIT | $64,600.00 |
| Moherek Fishing Team | $40,800.00 |
| Strictly Business II 2026 | $40,800.00 |
| North Star Pro | $40,800.00 |
| Caliente | $25,620.00 |
CatchStat displays a tournament total payout of $2,394,300. However, its ten named team totals currently add up to $1,992,500, and several category awards appear without a named recipient. The $401,800 difference matches three Day 3 category amounts shown without recipients: $221,000 in the $5,000 billfish jackpot, $140,000 in the $20,000 billfish jackpot and $40,800 in dorado. Blank recipient fields do not establish a rollover, refund or who receives those awards. This is not a complete confirmed distribution of the prize pool.
The name “Moherek Fishing Team” above follows CatchStat’s spelling; the magazine’s Day 1 weigh-in reporting used “Mohereek.”
Fishing has ended; official confirmation remains
The October 14–16 competition has completed its scheduled fishing days. On the closing-day board, the key changes are a new billfish leader, a new overall tuna leader and separate daily jackpot leaders—while Trixie continues to lead the named unofficial payout totals.
Chacón’s account of all participants finishing safely gives the final day a welcome conclusion after a cautious morning and rough conditions for smaller boats. The tournament committee’s confirmed results will determine the official awards.
Source review completed October 16, 2026, at 6:55 p.m. Mazatlán time, using retrieved CatchStat standings and payout representations from approximately 6:43–6:45 p.m.; the daily catch tally is from the 6:44 p.m. capture. These figures precede the organizer’s 9 p.m. harbor-entry deadline. CatchStat states that its content may not reflect official tournament standings. Port, weather and safe-completion statements are attributed to Arturo Chacón’s reporting.
